The Digital Reality Lab

Our research lab is dedicated to bridging reality and the digital domain by drawing from computer graphics, computer vision, machine learning and trans-disciplinary domains, combining well-grounded engineering with a scientific approach to phenomena in the real world. We are interested in questions that arise where mathematical modelling and the physical world intersect, and where computational approaches have the potential to transform traditional work-flows.

The portfolio of our lab ranges: from appearance modelling, that aims at creating digital representation and reproduction of an object's geometry and reflectance properties, to its reverse, the physical fabrication of novel shapes and materials that meet custom performance criteria; from automated digitisation systems, for 2D, 3D and multispectral imaging, to interactive, user-centric systems to create digital assets, or even to create or restore physical objects with computer assistance.
